Hi, I'm Joanna Gowdy! I'm 21 years old, and I've grown up in the West Michigan area my whole life. I love a good beach day on Lake Michigan, and I enjoy being outside hiking with my dog and my husband or friends. I love to experience the diversity of people, plants, and wildlife through travel. If I'm not outside or at a coffee shop, I'm probably reading a book.
Post high-school, I was preparing for a job in the education world, but I accidentally fell in love with dog training while working at a pet store during my gap year. I though I would thrive in a career that was more people-oriented, but after watching a few sessions of puppy classes, I realized dog trainers don’t train dogs; they train humans - and I was hooked.
I’ve done a lot of online learning with Leerburg University, Hope Service Dogs’ Online Service Dog School, and Consider the Dog, as well as hands-on learning as a dog trainer for Invisible Fence, a puppy class instructor for Chow Hound Pet Supplies, and through working with my amazing clients throughout West Michigan.
My mission as a dog trainer is simple: to take my clients' dogs to the next level - whether that's teaching an amazing recall for off-leash hiking trips, teaching the skills to be a therapy dog, or preparing a dog to take the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test. No matter your dog's breed or age, no matter your experience/skill level, I want YOU to be able to do more with your dog, and I’m here to give you the tools to do that.
